We’ve got something very exciting on the way…
That’s right, the first of one of our many promised regular features will be making its debut within the next few days!
Andrew’s Alternative Mount Rushmore Series will debut later on this week and we’re kickstarting the feature with a topic close to my heart…
The Sopranos.
Yep, anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I am absolutely obsessed with The Sopranos. In my opinion, it is the best show on TV of all time and it isn’t really up for debate.
There is nothing else like it.
And, despite its last episode airing in 2007, The Sopranos is still relevant today and it enjoyed a resurgence during COVID-19 with a brand new audience discovering how epic a show it really is for the very first time.
I’ve re-watched The Sopranos from start to finish an unhealthy amount of times now, and it never gets old. I can flick on a random episode while I’m working and it still feels fresh and still feels as though I’m watching it for the very first time.
I don’t think I’ve ever been impacted by a TV show or a film like I was after watching The Sopranos for the very first time. And every time since.
And, while it was ultimately a very dark show about mobsters killing each other, The Sopranos could have also passed as a comedy given some of the excellent one-liners in the series.
Plus, The Pines Barren will go down as one of the funniest and perfectly-executed episodes in TV history. It should be voted into the TV Hall of Fame if there was a section for episodes.
Hey, maybe that’s an idea for another feature.
Anyway, given my love for The Sopranos, it felt right to launch ‘Andrew’s Alternative Mount Rushmore Series’ with an inaugural entry dedicated to The Sopranos.
I’ll be running through my Mount Rushmore of the best Sopranos characters, and I’m sure my four will spark plenty of debate.
But, rest assured, and spoiler alert, Tony Soprano will feature. I mean, how couldn’t he feature. He was the heart of that show, the main character, the very essence of The Sopranos and the late, great James Gandolfini forever changed TV history with his epic, unforgettable and captivating portrayal of Tony.
In terms of future plans for ‘Andrew’s Alternative Mount Rushmore Series,’ I want to pump out a couple a month and they are going to cover a wide-range of topics and subjects.
Our second instalment will look at the best young stars in New York sports right now, our third edition will be TV themed again and I’ve got a long, long list of ideas for this feature. From sports to TV to films to music, we’re going to have a lot of fun with this.
After all, discussing who should be on a make-believe Mount Rushmore is perfect water cooler talk. We’ve all done it at some point in our lives, and it has formed the bedrock of sports talk radio for decades.
From modern-day topics to historical players, teams and achievements, I’m not going to be short on content or ideas for ‘Andrew’s Alternative Mount Rushmore Series.’
I’m a huge film and TV buff too, as well as a massive music fan of all eras, so I’ve got plenty of content to keep me going for a long, long time.
Plus, they say a picture paints a thousand words and with each instalment of this feature, you’ll be treated to a fantastic and sublime illustration from Jon Daly and my pals at Brave Buffalo. Jon is currently putting the finishing touches to the artwork for The Sopranos edition but I’ve seen it and, let me tell you, you will be as blown away as I was. The illustration really is something and I’m excited to see what magic Jon comes up with as we get further along with this feature.
You’re all in for a real treat when it comes to the artwork for this series.
As I said, the plan is to launch ‘Andrew’s Alternative Mount Rushmore Series’ later this week and I’m pumped for you all to see it, read it and hopefully enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.
Stay tuned!
