Hello again…
It has been a pretty big day here at Blogs Of Steele.
As you may have heard, and if you missed it, then this is for the late crowd, I’ve announced some pretty significant changes to how we’re going to be doing stuff both here and over on ‘The Andrew Steele Podcast.’
We went into very fine detail in an earlier post about the full change in strategy and why, which you can delve into right here, but I thought I would write another post specific to the kind of baseball content you can expect over the coming weeks and months (and hopefully years).
So here goes.
In short, expect a lot of baseball. A hell of a lot of baseball.
To expand on that point, from today on, Blogs Of Steele will be committed to providing baseball fans from all walks of life with the best possible coverage. All done in a fun and unique way, of course.
While Major League Baseball will be our main focus, I want to also delve deeper into America’s Favorite Past Time. I’m already laying the groundwork for players, coaches and scouts from across the Minor Leagues and College Baseball to be involved in what I’m trying to build here. I really want to cover this incredible, brilliant, breathtaking game of ours from the ground floor up.
One of the biggest factors behind the decision to pivot to mainly covering baseball, beside the fact I absolutely love the sport and I like to think I’ve done an okay job of writing about it in the past, is the fact that I will now have the time to really delve into and then deliver some fun content. From interviews with scouts who have been on the road for the past 40 years to a veteran who is fighting for one last trip to The Show to media personalities who are locked in on their respective beats, to long-form stories that take you into the heart of the clubhouse, to features that cover the resurgence the game of baseball is currently enjoying, to opinion pieces on the biggest stories across MLB (I have a funny feeling we’ll be talking about Shohei Ohtani and the Angels a lot coming up) and much, much more, I have so much fun stuff planned and I really do believe that Blogs Of Steele can establish itself as an important cornerstone in the baseball media landscape.
I feel that deep in my old bones.
And, I mean, there’s going to be a ton of incredibly fun stuff to write about over the coming weeks alone. There’s the MLB Trade Deadline and the compelling future of Ohtani that is absolutely going to dominate everything, players like Luis Arraez and Ronald Acuña Jr. are chasing history and a slew of blue-chip prospects are earning call-ups across the Majors.
This sport is absolutely thriving right now and I can’t wait to really dive deep into the weeds and cover all of it.
Now, before we go on, I will be looking to sprinkle a smattering of other sport content among all the baseball talk. I’ve detailed it more HERE - so do please go take a look - but I’ll do a weekly roundup of talking points and things that really caught my eye from across the sporting world. Additionally, for those of you who know me well, I’m a massive New York sports fan so I’ll still be giving my thoughts on whatever is going on with the likes of the Jets, the Knicks, the Rangers and the slew of other sports franchises located in The Big Apple. When you factor in that I’ll still be rolling out features like my ‘Alternative Mount Rushmore’ and ‘My Search For An MLS Team,’ then there will still be a little something for everyone here at Blogs Of Steele.
However, that won’t take away from the fact that we’re now a proud baseball focused site and the ideas and the content will only continue to grow and blossom as we settle into a groove here. I mean, I’ve already had an idea to do a running feature on MLB players I love watching right now, and that’s been really fun to cook up given the absurd amount of elite studs currently putting the game on the map. I’ll probably look to break that feature up into tiers to make it a little bit more interesting.
I’m already going to work on my yellow legal pads - yes, I’m obsessed - to come up with a plethora of new ideas and features that we can roll out down the road.
In terms of ‘The Andrew Steele Podcast,’ that will also be more tilted towards baseball but we’ll also have a sprinkling of guests from other sports and backgrounds on too. Looking into the immediate future, I’m hoping to have two baseball guests on this week to discuss the dumpster fires that are the Yankees and the Mets right now.
Those should be two really interesting conversations.
Oh, and if you have any ideas or suggestions as to what kind of baseball content you want to see here, then please get in touch by either contacting me on social media or using the comment section below - any ideas are welcome!
All in all, I’m beyond pumped about the direction we’re now going in and I’ve never been more comfortable or confident with a decision than I am with making baseball our main priority. It’s going to be better for the site, it’s going to be better for me and the content I produce and, more importantly, it’s going to be better for you - our amazing and loyal readers and subscribers.
Plus, I’m looking forward to hopefully welcoming plenty of new baseball fans to the Blogs Of Steele family soon!
Let’s get this thing started.
