Introducing Around The Bases With Andrew & Site FAQ
Providing a detailed breakdown of what to expect from the new newsletter, what will be featured on The Steele Sports Bar, and how to manage your subscriptions...
Welcome to ‘Around The Bases With Andrew.’
I’m delighted to finally reveal a really significant addition to the website and newsletter.
This is something I’ve been thinking about and working on for quite some time now, and I’m thrilled that it is finally getting the light of day.
So, just what is ‘Around The Bases With Andrew,’ and how is it different to The Steele Sports Bar? What can you expect from this new newsletter? And does that mean I will now be spamming your inboxes several times a day?
All fair questions and I’m going to attempt to answer them below…
What Is Around The Bases With Andrew?
Around The Bases With Andrew is a baseball specific newsletter designed to cover Major League Baseball on a daily basis.
I write about baseball for a living, and it is one of my favorite things to do. Naturally, with the 2025 MLB season now underway, I feel more inclined to write about America’s National Pastime seven days a week.
Therefore, my gut has been telling me for a while that it would make total sense to create a baseball-specific newsletter, along with a section on the website where you can find all of my baseball articles in one place.
Without wanting to re-design the website, or to create a whole new separate publication, the logical option was to just birth a new section on the current website.
And here we are.
I am really excited about this change, and I want Around The Bases With Andrew to become a flagship newsletter for all baseball fans.
By creating a brand new newsletter, I can craft all of my baseball musings into one dedicated space, while retaining the freedom to write about other sports on The Steele Sports Bar.
What Should I Expect From Around The Bases With Andrew?
My intention is to write about what I love about baseball on a daily basis. I adore this beautiful game more than anything, and I can’t wait to get started with this new project.
Here’s a taste of the kind of content you can expect to see on the ‘Around The Bases With Andrew’ Newsletter:
Around The Bases Column - I will be writing a weekly ‘Around The Bases’ column, touching on a number of subjects in baseball, while also including my favorite plays of the week, most notable storylines, favorite box scores, mailbag questions and lots more!;
Storylines - Throughout the 2025 season, I’ll share the biggest and most compelling storylines that are intriguing me;
Top 10 Lists - MLB Network has been publishing its list of top 10 players at each position, and I’m going to attempt to do the same throughout the year. I will also share the top 10 prospects I’m most excited about, my top 10 bounce-back candidates, my top 10 breakout players to watch and much more!
Players I Love To Watch - I watch an unhealthy amount of baseball and, therefore, there are a ton of players I love to watch. I will be writing essays on as many of those players as I can throughout the season;
Editorials - I am going to look to launch a weekly op-ed featuring my thoughts on the latest talking points across MLB, in addition to also publishing a bunch of random baseball thoughts every week, too;
Video - I will be introducing a video component to the site and newsletter shortly. I plan on posting weekly clips with my views on the latest news and hottest talking points from around Major League Baseball, and I’ll have a guest to join me every now and then too.
Podcast - I will also be bringing back a new-and-improved podcast soon, bringing on a host of great baseball guests to help bring you closer to the game you all love;
Quick Hits - Every week I’ll look to publish a column of rapid-fire thoughts on what’s hot and topical across Major League Baseball;
That’s just a taster of what you can expect to receive from Around The Bases With Andrew, and I’m constantly workshopping new ideas.
It is going to be one hell of a fun ride.
What Does This Mean For The Steele Sports Bar?
Don’t worry, The Steele Sports Bar isn’t going anywhere, and the overall site branding will stay the same.
But, as I touched on above, I wanted to have a separate space and section for all of my baseball stuff.
I will still write on The Steele Sports Bar, and I intend to send out 2-3 newsletters a week.
For non-baseball fans, The Steele Sports Bar will be the newsletter for you. This is where I will talk about the NFL, the NHL, the NBA and anything else that comes to mind. And, with the NFL Draft days away, not to mention the fact that the NBA and NHL Playoffs start this week, I’ll have plenty to talk about over the coming months.
Plus, The Steele Sports Bar will host unique content like my Jets Diary, which will be returning in a new-and-improved format for the 2025 season. Additionally, new features like ‘The Top 5 Sports Events I Loved Watching This Week,’ will also come from The Steele Sports Bar section.
So, if you want to hear some non-baseball musings from me, make sure you stay subscribed to The Steele Sports Bar.
What I Will See On The Main Website?
The site will, of course, remain the place where you can gain access to everything I do and write. This won’t change.
Everything I post will be available and accessible on the home page at all times.
Plus, the tab for Around The Bases With Andrew will be featured at the top of my homepage at all times, so you can access all of my baseball content by just clicking on that tab.
I’m currently in the process of tidying up the tabs section on the homepage. This will make it easier for you to navigate and find the content you want to read the most.
Does This Mean That I will Now Get A Billion Emails From You Every Day?
Fair question. But, no, I can assure you that you won’t be getting a billion emails from me every single day.
In reality, you should only get a max of 2-3 emails from me per day.
The Steele Sports Bar will be your home for all non-baseball content, including my takes on things happening in and around the wider sports world, in addition to the odd life / culture musing. I anticipate sending out two or three newsletters a week from The Steele Sports Bar.
Around The Bases With Andrew will be the sole destination for all things baseball, and, in an ideal world, I plan on sending out newsletters from this section every single day. Now, on certain days there might be a need for multiple newsletters to go out from this section. However, I will always strive to ensure that you don’t receive more than three newsletters from me in total on any given day. The last thing I want to do is spam your inbox and piss you off. That wouldn’t be good.
So, in review, you will likely get anywhere between 1-3 emails from me every single day, but nowhere close to a billion. I promise.
Can I Subscribe To One Newsletter & Not The Other?
Absolutely you can.
At the moment, ALL subscribers are signed up to receive newsletters from both The Steele Sports Bar & Around The Bases With Andrew.
HOWEVER…
If you are only interested in baseball and just want newsletters from Around The Bases With Andrew, then you have the option to unclick The Steele Sports Bar newsletter and leave Around The Bases With Andrew clicked.
If you don’t want to read about baseball, though, and are more interested in other sports and subjects, then you can just leave The Steele Sports Bar clicked and unclick Around The Bases With Andrew.
Of course, if you want to stay subscribed to both newsletters, then I would love that too.
To make any changes to your subscription, please visit your.substack.com/account. Additionally, scroll to your Substack profile (top right corner), click the scroll down menu, and go to ‘Manage Subscription.’
Once there, scroll down to notifications and just select / un-select the newsletters you want to receive in your inbox.
Once done, you can just head on out and you should be good to go.
You can also always go back and opt back in to any of the newsletters if you do change your mind at any point.
And, again, I will be posting baseball-only content on Around The Bases With Andrew, and non-baseball content on The Steele Sports Bar. I will probably post 2-3 times a week on The Steele Sports Bar, and, ideally, every single day on Around The Bases With Andrew.
So, with that in mind, you should only get a max of two emails per day. That could rise to three on certain days but, overall, you should expect to get something from me in your inboxes a couple of times a day.
Hopefully that’s okay.
I think I covered everything.
If I have missed something, or you have a question, please don’t hesitate to email me. I’ll strive to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Thank you once again for all your support, and I do hope that you will join me on this new part of the journey. Writing about baseball truly makes me happy, and I can’t wait to do that on a daily basis with our new dedicated newsletter.
I will never take your support for granted. It is truly remarkable, and continues to blow me away.
I hope you stick around.
Talk to you all later.
