Introducing Yeti's Breakfast - The Hot New Band That Needs To Be On Your Radar
If you listen to anything today, make sure it is the band's debut album that will leave you absolutely floored in awe and amazement...
Hello!
I’m interrupting our regular scheduled programming to bring you something a little bit special today.
If you read my article on Thursday - you can read it here if you haven’t already done so - I spent a little bit of time in the hospital earlier this month due to a stomach problem.
As frustrating as it was being taken out of the picture when it came to work and writing, it did give me the rare opportunity to really indulge in a beloved passion of mine: listen to music for hours on end.
Although I’m a huge podcast guy - I consume hours and hours of sports podcasts on the daily - I’ve always shared a deep and highly meaningful relationship with music dating back to my childhood. A lot of my earliest memories revolve around my Dad exposing me to a swathe of different bands and artists from a wide array of eras and genres. It wasn’t uncommon to hear the rebellious tones of The Clash blare out throughout our house growing up. For some reason, I also recall ‘Call Me’ by Blondie constantly being played too.
It is strange the tiny and almost inconsequential details you remember from your childhood.
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that it was while shackled to my hospital bed (not literally, before anyone panics and starts digging into what kind of dark, shady place I was admitted to), I discovered the absolute joys and delights of Yeti’s Breakfast.
Now, before I proceed further, I will divulge that one of the band members, Rob Grady, is a very, very close personal friend but I can assure you that he hasn’t paid me to write this.
No, I was moved and inspired to write about Yeti’s Breakfast because their debut album, simply titled Yeti’s Breakfast, had such a profound impact on me that I had to share it with all of you.
I was so blown away by the breathtakingly strong collection of 10 songs, so expertly written, composed and produced by the aforementioned Rob Grady and bandmate Jeremy Burne. These two gents are just starting out, yet they have produced a debut album any band from the Kaiser Chiefs to The Rolling Stones would have been proud of.
Some of you may be inclined to repel a little bit given the hyperbolic-laced nature of that latter statement but, trust me, it is justified.
Just listen to yourself and get back to me. Yeti’s Breakfast can be found on Apple Music and Spotify, or wherever you download and find your music these days.
What really blows me away is the fact that the entire album was produced and put together in Rob’s bedroom. Yet, once you listen to it just once all the way through, you will become convinced that a gargantuan record company such as Sony, EMI, Abbey Road Studios or Def Jam Recordings had had their hands all over it.
Not so, which further hammers home just how remarkable and beautiful this entire album is. Honestly, listening to it while writing this, I’m inclined to think that this is the 10th studio album produced by the band, as opposed to just its first, such is the insane professionalism and high-level production of the entire operation.
‘Find My Way’, the opening track on the album, will absolutely hook you in from the very first melody - as you can probably tell, I’m no expert when it comes to music. From there, you will find it impossible to resist the charm of the unique and truly breathtaking, charming and angel like vocals that almost trick you into thinking you are led on some fluffy cloud in the inner-sanctum of heaven while your every need is attended to by God’s most trusted and loyal allies.
Again, I’m no expert on this subject, but ‘Find My Way’ is the kind of punchy track that could standalone as a single and do incredibly well in the charts. It is a fitting introduction to what Yeti’s Breakfast is all about.
‘Til Then’ is the perfect mix of mellow and chilled out vibes, and the vocals will transport you to a place of tranquility and peace. This is the kind of track that is built for resounding commercial success. It is absolute perfection. I could also imagine Yeti’s Breakfast opening up gigs at sold out venues with this track and the entire place going nuts. It is that catchy.
I don’t know if I should be sharing this, but I have some brilliant insight behind the song ‘Badger On.’ The entire record was thought up by Rob while on a drunken walk back to his house one night, where he encountered a stray badger going about its nightly routine. Unsure if what he was seeing was reality, or rather a figment of his alcohol-fueled imagination, Rob woke up the very next day with an entire song written.
That’s what great artists do. They take the most mundane of everyday things and turn it into absolute art.
Overall, I’ve been playing Yeti’s Breakfast’s groundbreaking debut album on repeat every single day, and I hope you do too. It is so important to support up-and-coming talent, and I really do believe deep in my gut that Yeti’s Breakfast is the next great band to arrive on the scene and shake the very foundations of the contemporary folk arena.
Rob Grady and Jeremy Burne are the two faces of Yeti’s Breakfast, and they really are going to be a force to be reckoned with. My scouting report describes them as a five-tool band with tremendous upside and an incredibly high ceiling. And, if this is what they come out with when just starting out, imagine the pure magic they will produce further down the road. Yeah, we have two stars on our hands here.
Get on the bandwagon now because Yeti’s Breakfast, and their incredible, awe-inspiring debut album, is going places.
Also, that stunning and eye-catching album artwork - complete with the aforementioned badger making a sneaky cameo - should win awards on its own.
The fact that this album was produced out of a bedroom with no funding, yet sounds as phenomenal and as sensational as it does, should tell you everything you need to know about the potential of Rob and Jeremy.
I can’t wait to see what they do next.
In the meantime, please give their debut album a listen by heading to wherever you listen to music!
