Smorgasbord of Football Talk With Joe Clark...
It was quite the weekend for sports with the 2023 NFL Draft taking place in Kansas City.
After months of relentless hard work and tape-watching by scouts and personnel staff, a plethora of Mock Drafts and endless amounts of ink and air time dedicated to what all 32 teams should do, the futures of a slew of young men were finally decided over a fun weekend full of shocks and surprises.
The Carolina Panthers put their rebuild in turbocharge mode by getting their man in Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick, the Houston Texans made an aggressive trade up to select two franchise cornerstones with the second and third picks, and the Indianapolis Colts looked to put their quarterback demons to rest by selecting Anthony Richardson at No. 4, a freakishly athletic QB with a hell of a lot of upside.
There was plenty to digest and lots more to get into, so there was only one man to call upon in order to help me wade through a feast of football talk. My good friend Joe Clark of Toilets To Titles fame.
We get into:
Why the whole Will Levis situation was a PR disaster for the NFL, and why it should be avoided in the future. Plus, why does it take so damn long for the first team on the clock on Day 1 to make a pick?!
What we liked and didn’t like from Round 1 and our biggest winners, including Anthony Richardson and the Baltimore Ravens.
Why the New York Jets had to make the trade for Aaron Rodgers, the really encouraging early signs from the all-time great quarterback, and another solid weekend of work from General Manager Joe Douglas in the Draft.
Joe passionately speaks up for Daniel Jones and makes a compelling argument as to why Danny Dimes is the right man for the New York Football Giants for the longterm. And, yes, we will be voting Joe in as the President of the Danny Dimes Fan Club very soon.
The Giants also hit it out of the park at the Draft and we go over the picks made by the Front Office.
There wasn’t just football talk. We got on to our beloved New York Mets towards the end of the show, and why we’re both in agreement on Brett Baty being the real deal.
We then finished the show by making our own ‘Kings of New York Sports’ list after GQ Sports sparked a lot of debate with their list, which was confusing at best.
